Here we are again then people a new feature on dirtyface, our second artist from Russia, Alexey Luka. We love what Alexey is doing, he is one of those artists who has managed to fuse a number of techniques creating a unique take on surreal, geometric characters. His colour composition and precision line work are something that really caught our eye and we've been desperate to feature his work for some time now.

Alexey started writing graffiti around 10 years ago where he developed the alias Luka. His artwork can be found on buildings and walls around Moscow, Russia where he lives and works. He likes to work across multiple mediums, utilising different techniques to create his originally styled pieces.

His style is derived from what he calls “visual experiments” where he forms abstract characters with organic shapes and geometric compositions. He mainly works with acrylics on found objects.

You can see more of Luka's amazing style over on his site: http://alexeyluka.com/

Technology has a way of kicking you when you're down. Not only have we suffered the pain of a critical hard drive loss in the last year, putting our Ten/Ten project back by some months but now our MacBook Pro has decided to pack in. So a bit later than planned we have finally released the next instalment in our artist feature series. Welcome to the artwork of Oker...

Mario Fonseca, known as Oker, is a creative 26-year old Portuguese artist born in the town of Maia (Porto). He developed his artistic passion in several areas, such as Illustration, Graffiti and Graphic Design. His creative journey began in 1999 through the world of Urban Art, where he explored, experienced and created a unique style that's now unmistakable. Macabre creatures, toxic monsters and detailed work is what most characterises his work.

He's always been interested in the art world, therefore he took a degree in Digital Arts and Media in Esad. At and it was at this point he started being attracted by illustration and communication design. During this journey he tried to create a link between his manual, organic artwork roots and new digital techniques, arousing the interest of the public, developing gradually a will to enter into the world of Okerland...

Here we are then, our next feature bringing Philip Bosmans aka Amatic to your screen. We've been a big fan of Amatic for years, his spraycan work and character creation is so unique, we just love his style.

Philip Bosmans was educated as a graphic designer. He is a self-taught painter and graffiti/street artist and you can see - looking at his pop surrealistic work - where his roots come from. Philip is a born draftsmen and all his dreams, wanderings and fantasy worlds first end up - in detail or more elaborated - in his sketchbook that is always close to give his creative ideas literally and figuratively a place to ´rest´. At a later stage they fuse with the paint and canvas to become art works that represent and characterize people´s dreams, grief, happiness or luck.

Philip not only creates a world he can escape in himself but also gives the spectator the possibility to disappear from daily life for a moment by looking at his works that carry a strong use of color and imagination in them.

Besides his work with paint on canvas Bosmans makes also digital art for which he recently received international recognition by winning the prestigious Macworld UK Digital Artist of the Year Award 2011 with the work "Origin of Species".

Philip Bosmans is represented by the ARTISHOX Art Agency

So here it is, our fourth artist feature of the year and taking over our home page this time is Mr Tom Hartley. We asked Tom to say a few words about his work and this is what he said...

I love digital platforms for ‘art & design’ but give me a tube of poster paint and I’m one happy chappy. I mainly work in acrylic on canvas creating pieces inspired from a vast array of influence’s and continually look to progress my ideas.

I’m pretty sure my brain was split in two… one side a tidy Graphic Designer and the other just wants to splash paint around. I think this come across strongly in my work as I always endeavour to create contrast, whether it’s a comic book styled clash or just striking colours against the beauty of black paint.
